Amsterdam Light Festival 2018

Join me on an evening boat ride along the Amsterdam Canal

Edition#7 THE MEDIUM IS THE MESSAGE

The Amsterdam Light Festival is, you guessed it, an annual festival of lights held in Holland’s capital. It’s the main highlight of the holiday season in Amsterdam. This year’s festival was composed of selected works–all light sculptures by local Dutch and international artists. Learning the story behind these is spectacular! They light up the canal ring and the area around the city’s River Amstel.

An open boat tour means colder air but also closer to the lights…but don’t worry, there were blankets and hot chocolate.

Let the tour commence!

NIGHT VISION

This first piece gave me serious Willy Wonka vibes for some reason (from the original of course), especially when the boat went through it

PARABOLIC LIGHTCLOUD
SPIDER ON THE BRIDGE

This was one of my favourites of the night (despite my fear of spiders). I have to say – having this thing dangling over you and not being able to get away really makes you wonder if they’re worth being afraid of…

STARRY NIGHT
